Ground Beef Beans Stir Fry (Print Version)

A fast ground beef and green bean stir-fry with garlic, ginger, and a glossy savory sauce.

# Ingredients:

For the stir-fry

01 - 1 lb (450 g) green beans, trimmed and halved
02 - 2 tablespoons neutral cooking oil, divided
03 - 12 oz (340 g) lean ground beef
04 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
05 - 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

For the sauce

06 - 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
07 - 1 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
08 - 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce, optional
09 - 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce, optional
10 - 1/2 teaspoon sugar
11 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
12 - 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes, optional
13 - 1/3 cup (80 ml) water
14 - 1 teaspoon cornstarch
15 - 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

For serving

16 - Steamed rice or noodles, optional
17 - Sliced scallions or sesame seeds, optional

# Instructions:

01 - Whisk the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, black pepper, chili flakes, water, cornstarch, and sesame oil in a small bowl until smooth.
02 - Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the green beans and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring often, until bright green and lightly blistered. Transfer to a plate.
03 - Add the remaining 1 tablespoon oil if the pan looks dry. Add the ground beef and cook for 5-6 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles, until browned and cooked through.
04 - Stir in the garlic and ginger. Cook for 30-45 seconds until fragrant, keeping them moving so they do not burn.
05 - Give the sauce another stir, then pour it into the pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring, until glossy and thick enough to coat the beef.
06 - Return the green beans to the pan and toss for 1-2 minutes until hot and evenly coated. Serve right away with rice or noodles if desired.

# Notes:

01 - Nutrition estimate is for the stir-fry only and does not include rice or noodles.
02 - Use a wide skillet or wok so the beans blister instead of steam.
03 - Cook ground beef to 160 F for food safety.
